40 Best Online Shopping Sites for Women’s Clothing and Accessories That Are Giving Back During COVID-19 - Vogue |
Posted: 08 Apr 2020 05:15 AM PDT The prospect of helping fight a global pandemic from home can be overwhelming. For those of us not in the medical and science communities, or in politics, where do we begin? How can we give and support if we're quarantined far from the front lines? Donations are a great place to start, and many fashion labels are currently offering opportunities to give back monetarily, in addition to the donations they're already making themselves. Independent designers and small businesses around the world and in the U.S. in particular have been creating pathways for customers to lend a hand, whether that means donating a percentage of their online sale proceeds to the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, or a local food bank. Many are focusing their efforts on sending gifts and supplies to nurses and doctors in overcrowded hospitals, while others are even offering to send Venmo money to whatever cause or individual a customer chooses. Though this is a daunting and frightening time for everyone, there's really no shortage of ways to give back while staying socially distanced. Here are 40 brands that are using their line platforms, and their designs, to give to those in need during the coronavirus outbreak. Ten percent of profits will go to Age UK. Starting April 8, 50% of profits from Rixo's Stay-at-Home T-shirt will go to NHS Charities COVID-19 Urgent Appeal. For every Remind Yourself bracelet sold, 10% of proceeds will be donated to the COVID-19 Direct Relief Fund. Loup will be donating 15% of all proceeds to Meals on Wheels indefinitely. Through the month of April, $15 from every order will go to City Harvest in New York City. A $15 donation feeds a family of three for 15 days. For the entire month of April, AGL is donating 30% of its online sales to support medical staff in the Fermo province of the Marche region in Italy by providing doctors with personal protective equipment. Ten percent of sales will be donated to Meals on Wheels. If size or styles become unavailable, you can email orders@brandonmaxwellstudio.com to place an order. Fifteen percent of company proceeds from all online purchases will go to Feeding America, including purchases at Saks, Goop, and MatchesFashion.com. Shop Attico's charity sale, Door Is Open, from April 4–10. The online store features hand-selected pieces from previous seasons. All profits from the charity sale will go toward the Protezione Civile (Department of Civil Protection) of Italy with respect to the COVID-19 outbreak. Starting April 1, Fleur du Mal is launching the Fleur Gives Back campaign to benefit COVID-19 health care workers. Ten percent of proceeds from online sales will go toward NYC Health + Hospitals. The COVID-19 Relief Fund provides services and support including meals, groceries, hotel rooms, and laundry service to doctors, nurses, and other health care workers on the front line. Over the Moon has collaborated with one of their favorite small businesses, Charmajesty, on a pair of embroidered pajamas in which 25% of the profits will go to New York's Citymeals on Wheels organization. Ten percent of sales from the main line collection will be given to UCLA's Health Fund. Twenty percent of proceeds from the the Alexander Wang Vault pop-up online archive shop will be donated to the United Nations Foundation's COVID-19 response fund in support of the World Health Organization. Hunting Season will be hosting live auctions of pieces via Instagram, starting bids at $100. All proceeds will go to a different charity each week that is helping fight COVID-19. See Hunting Season's Instagram for more details. Twenty percent of sales will be donated weekly to the Los Angeles Food Bank and Feeding America. On March 16, Khaite donated $10,000 to the nonprofit organization Baby2Baby, which provides essential items to children and families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Fielding a high volume of requests from school districts, homeless shelters, health clinics, and Head Start programs, Baby2Baby needs funds to purchase, transport, and distribute items such as diapers, wipes, blankets, hygiene products, and school supplies. For the next 30 days, Khaite will donate 10% of website sales to Baby2Baby. From now until the end of June, as part of #VBGivesBack initiative, a portion of proceeds from every online order will benefit Good+Foundation, which is focusing its efforts by supplying critical goods for low-income parents and caregivers. With every purchase of the brand's signature Bucket Bag (of any size and color), 10% of sales will be donated directly to GlobalGiving's Coronavirus Relief Fund, which supports immediate and long-term relief within vulnerable communities. Posted: 07 Apr 2020 12:00 AM PDT NEW YORK, April 7, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Social media influencer, blogger and all around fashionista, Dionne Teddie launched an e-retail website, ShopStyleShark.com (https://shopstyleshark.com/), as a hobby in 2017. Today, with over 4 million monthly hits, the company has grown into a successful business that provides high quality trends to women around the world at an affordable price point. Today, they're offering a 20%-off "WFH (Work from Home) Sale" for those practicing social distancing during the current worldwide health crisis. Dionne Teddie began her career selling used clothes on Poshmark, and in just three years grew a loyal fanbase from 1000 followers into a powerhouse audience representing over 100,000 followers on Instagram. ShopStyleShark.com offers a platform for a wide variety of current women's fashion, including clothing, footwear and accessories, while also featuring regular style and fashion advice via Dionne Teddie's personal blog diary. "Fashion is really about the magic and mystery of transformation and evolution," said StyleShark owner and founder, Dionne Teddie. "There is a powerful energy in changing your look, or styling yourself in a certain way using clothing, accessories, makeup and hair. It's a whole language that's conveyed through objects. Anthropology sometimes talks about artifactual communication: our artifacts – the things we make and wear – speak about who we are as people. We can communicate a whole range of human emotions, desires and goals through a series of modern "artifactual gestures" such as clothes, shoes, jewelry, hairstyles and even makeup choices. It's a rich, ever-evolving communication. And it's one of the reasons I love putting together wide ranges of seasonal lineups for our customers – they understand and speak the same language." ShopStyleShark.com: Journey into a Complete Fashion Experience Of the origins of her love for the industry, Dionne said: "I've always held a passion for retail and the art of styling. I can remember doodling clothing designs in elementary. My bedroom itself was covered from floor to ceiling in magazine cut-outs from 'Vogue' and other fashion magazines. It wasn't until later, as a freshman in college, that I had the opportunity to work in the fashion industry, as an intern and styling assistant. That really sealed the deal, and represented the start of my career in fashion. I love my life, and I've loved every single step that has brought me to where I am today: the proud and outspoken owner of my own clothing company." Although Shop Style Shark currently only carries fashion for women, ShopStyleShark.com is constantly expanding, with plans to offer women's plus-sized clothes, menswear and children's clothing in the future.
